Tucked in the Rif Mountains, inland from Tangier and Tetouan, the blue city Chefchaouen/Chaouen dates to the 15th century when Jewish refugees fleeing the Spanish Inquisition made it their place of refuge.

Surrounded by remarkable mountain scenery, this picturesque city is a perfect place for wanderers and adventurers. A gorgeous blue rinse that covers not only the houses, but every building including government offices, public squares, trash cans, etc.

About the tour

We’ll take you into the hillside street to the Kasbah: a densely restored walled fortress comprising a beautiful garden. And then to the medina which is covered with handwoven blankets and shawls, Aztec-patterned bags and Moroccan slippers, handmade tagine clay pots decorated with delicate artistry, and lots more. Lastly, a stop at Ras El Ma waterfall where the local women come to do their washing.
